This year's Chairman's Dinner was held at The George Hotel in Shipston on Friday 5th February. Chairman, Les Hardiman and President, Tony Lowes, greeted the guests in the leather-clad drawing room while Andy Nabbs flitted around in the background demanding money with menaces.
The party then moved into the dining room where a very moving grace was spoken by Chris French before the first course of tomato and basil soup was served. The main course was a splendid lamb shank which everyone seemd to enjoy apart from Dex who doesn't like lamb. The meal was rounded off with a very pleasant cheese platter.
Inbetween course, the entertainment for the evening, Alan Hudson, went round the tables performing some excellent close-up card tricks which left one Colts Manager completed amazed!
After the plates were cleared away, the raffle was drawn with the first prize of tickets tickets to Anfield being won by Eliott Wright - all he needs to do now is try and find a friend to go with him - good luck with that.
The winners of the quiz, 'Wes and Parts Google on Their Blacberries', received a bottle of port and had the honour of demonstrating how a port race should be correctly carried out. Once finished, their bottle was replaced and the por race was started. Some table with ome old blokes on it won the race and received a bottle of port as their prize!
Alan Hudson then entertained the rather merry crowd with some more tricks - the applause just about managing to drown out James 'The Stig' Coe's interesting brand of heckling. He rounded off the entertainment with a trick involving Andy Nabbs with a large paper bag over his head - luckily this didn't have Andy flashing back to his wedding night!
With the entertainment finished, Les called on his special guest for he evening, Matt Partridge, to say a few words. Partridge spoke elequently of his appreciation for the invite and how much he enjoys his time at the club. Partridge did have a speech prepared for him by Connor 'Sir-Lix-A-Lot' Minogue which would have proved far to long, complicated and surprisingly witty for him to read out. A copy of the speech can be perused here if you dare!
Les then rounded off the evening by slurring his way through a few thank yous before everyone adjourned to the bar.
